Hello Moto?

My battery died on my (amazingly outdated) LG Dare so I was in the Verizon store getting things sorted out. Couldn't help but notice the new Droid. I think there's the Motorola Droid and another brand (with touch screen only) that operates on the Android system. Am supposed to wait a few months before I'm allowed to upgrade, but would love to hear from anyone who has one to see what they have to say.

I've had a Droid since just after xmas, I love it. The browser is amazing and the OS is pretty quick to pick up. The camera is 5mp and takes good shots.

It's not a iPhone killer, or at least not yet, the Android App Store is less fleshed out with good apps.

The big dislike, is it's less than stellar ability to talk to MS Exchange server for my work. You probably don't need to talk to Exchange so a freelancer like you probably won't even notice. (You lucky ***tard) I had to get them to bypass some security features so my Droid would talk to Exchange.

The slider keyboard is OK, the keys are a little flat for my taste. I'm getting used to it now but I'm still slower at typing on the Droid than on my BB Curve.

Kenneth, I heard a rumor that the iPhone may be available on Verizon Wireless possibly by June...

I've got the Droid, too. Let me know what you'd like to discuss.

I do not own one (yet) but our systems guru at work spent a good month deciding between another Blackberry, an iPhone, and this Motorola Droid. He went with the Droid for lots of technical reasons, but also because the browser and applications were supposed to be faster. I ask him quite often if he still likes the phone because we are almost to the end of our contract and are looking to upgrade. He's very impressed with it and tells me he wouldn't go back to a Blackberry and will not consider an iPhone due to spotty coverage.

Good luck!

i have the Eris and think it is a great phone. you dont need to get the droid unless you need a real keypad. the weight of the droid is huge compared to the eris and that makes a difference when it is in your pocket. the web browser on the eris is awesome!

vzw currently sells the motorola droid, and the htc droid eris, both run android, one has a keyboard and a better processor, while the other one is slicker and touch screen only.
if you're definitely going to get an android phone, wait a couple weeks for the htc nexus one from google to come out on cdma!

I understand where everyone else that has posted is coming form but just wanted to point out that you might have the option to move over to T-Mobile. They have had Android phones for over a year now and have amazing line up them. Not just one phone to pick but 4 to pick from. I am carying the behold II and LOVE it and have AWESOME reception where i go. Just a though if you are thinking about the droid because tmobile has had them A LOT longer.

Kenneth,
One of my delivery drivers switched from a razor to the Droid and has had problems ever since. The phone constantly 'butt dials' and its reception is horrible. I think he may have been able to do something to correct this but still...

Keep in mind that Grindr is only available for the iPhone. So just wait up until June.

A few people have told me they love the new Droid (with keyboard).

I've used the Samsung Memoir for almost a year now and love that phone. It's not Android, or even a "smartphone" like my old "Dash" but it does what I need, does it well and has a great 8MP camera.

grndr; ugh! If that's what you want, then fine. I understand that other op sys are coming (death to iPhone! long live iPhone!) to serve the grndr's. Enjoy!!!
