Everything's Waiting for You

It's not every day -- or should I say ever -- that you'll hear me say that I wish I were in Texas. But when I read that "Downtown Calling," director Shan Nicholson's new documentary examining the explosive artistic period that came out of the fiscally and morally bankrupt period of late '70s New York City, I was ready to put on a Stetson and head to Austin. Klaus Nomi at the Mudd Club? A chat with Maripol? Narration by Debbie Harry? Who do you gotta blow to bring this film home, guys? (Watch the trailer and you'll see what I mean.)

To get updates on when this film might make it to the continental United States, visit the official site HERE. In the meantime, The Daily News has a fun map of all the key spots in New York's music history HERE and an article about the upcoming "Who Shot Rock 'n' Roll" photography exhibit HERE.

I knew this sounded familiar. My friend is in charge of the after party and sent the invite a few days ago. It's not to late to hop a plane down here!
