Kenneth's Choice

Tough time deciding between "Food Inc.," which I bought tickets online for, and the surprise revival of "Bye Bye Birdie" ...

So what did you end up seeing?? Hope you saw BYE BYE BIRDIE - great film especially in its original widescreen format (they way it was supposed to be seen)

Hope you had a great 4th, Kenneth!

OMG...just played back from DVR the revival of "Bye Bye Birdie". Had never seen the Jason Alexander/George Wendt version, but recalled the original Paul Lynde from my early youth.

I've never seen such a poorly cast, poorly directed movie in my life. They really ruined it.

No matter how FOOD, INC was...be thankful you didn't waste your money to that other piece of crap.

So, are you just going to leave us hanging LOL. Food, Inc. sounds interesting, but the other choices would be more entertaining.

Hope you guys had a great 4th, even though you had to work so much.

I see from the Film Forum site that they are showing the original 1963 film version of "Bye, Bye Birdie" (NOT the crappy Jason Alexander TV version). Such a delicious slice of musical Americana! Broadway purists always lament that the show's story was drastically rewritten for the film, but this is the movie that made Ann Margret a star and it's great fun.

Incidentally, Charles Strouse's biograpy (he is the show's composer) titled "Put On a Happy Face" is a good read.

Yes, it was the original "Bye Bye Birdie." We saw "Food, Inc.," however. Review TK!

I have to go see my girl ANN MARGARET!!! and I love the IFC..it's a couple of blocks from me..Thanks Kenneth!!..they should have a "SING A LONG"..she was stunning in that movie, as she was in Viva Las Vegas....and I love that theater...that was one of the musicals I grew up with and still listen to that great soundtrack...out of a teenager movie came some great songs:"Put On A Happy Face",A Lot Of Livin' To Do",the hysterical "Kids" with Paul Lynde...OH lordy was he a pisser!!..just a great cast, innovative choreography..especially the birdie number...these kids danced their asses off(I wonder if the Broadway version will come close to it)..and besides ANN a& Paul : Dick Van Dyke, BEAUTIFUL Janet Leigh,HYSTERICAL Maureen Stapleton who plays the MOM to Dick Van Dyke with that huge piece of fur she NEVER takes off during the entire movie PLUS the rubber boots!!, Bobby Rydell,...they DO NOT make really, fun movies like this anymore...and just the opening number. :The Telephone Hour" was so well done & the STUNNING Ann sings"How Lovely To Be A Woman"....I have some side stories about Ann that I will not tell in public but she is just a NICE person overall...she needs to do another movie!!!! and man could she DANCE!!!..besides being beautiful and to top it all off to be married and to take care of that hunk of a husband, Roger Smith..remember HIM from the movie "Auntie Mame"?

Cheers..
