Goodbye, Hard Copies

As I watch the print media world implode around me, it was just another blow to read that the Mavety Media Group has pulled the plug on all of its gay magazines, including such venerable titles as Playguy, Mandate, Honcho, Inches (Latin, black and otherwise) and my personal favorite, Torso (see my May 1992 issue featuring Tony Brandon above for full explanation). Given the fact that 95 percent of what's on the Internet is porn, this news should come as no real surprise. Still, you can't help but feel sad knowing future generations of kids won't have a "stash" of magazines hidden under their mattresses like we all did. Somehow I just can't hear the Beatsie Boys singing, "Now your mom deleted your best porno Zip folder -- bust it!"
