RIP: Rocky Mountain News

The Rocky Mountain News, Colorado's oldest newspaper, published its final edition on Friday. A sad day for journalists everywhere. Next up? The San Francisco Chronicle and The Tucson Citizen seem to be likely bets.

It was the better of Denver's two newspapers.

I read an article where a lot of the problem was the classified ad market going away in 2007. Craig's List, Monster, Ebay etc, played a role in its demise.

Unless Hearst changes its mind, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer will either close or become online-only sometime this month, leaving us with the inferior Seattle Times.
