Miniature P-I

In what will surely be remembered as the turning point in the history of print journalism, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer -- an institution since 1863 -- published its last edition today and will now become the nation's largest daily newspaper to shift to an entirely digital news product. Beginning tomorrow, the P-I, as its known, "will resemble a local Huffington Post more than a traditional newspaper, with a news staff of about 20 people rather than the 165 it had, and a site with mostly commentary, advice and links to other news sites, along with some original reporting." While this is clearly not good news for those of us in the newspaper business, it will surely serve as a testing ground for what will undoubtedly be the future of news -- I'm guessing sooner than later. Needless to say, we're all watching with bated breath and heavy hearts.
