This video of comedian Nadya Ginsburg as Cher and Madonna on the set of their new film, "The Worm," has been on everyone's blog for the last week or two, but I didn't get around to watching it until yesterday. I SWEAR to god I actually thought Ginsburg was moving her mouth to recorded snippets of the dueling divas, a la Lipsyncha, because she completely NAILS 'em both! (Pure genius!) And by the time Cher tells "Son" that she "won't have a three-way with Lola Falana," she got me, babe, completely. (Bonus points for the Winona Ryder, too!)

I posted this, too, but I think all it's got going for it is the vocal perfection—NOBODY has ever done Madonna's voice this accurately. But I think the writing is weak...I mean...fart jokes? I did like the Falana mention, too.
hey kenneth, you are back in my blogroll (spencerlord.com) and i'm looking for your cd. :)
Mmm, it kind of seems like you're missing your own point. The whole thing is NOTHING BUT a vehicle for the voice -- which, as you eloquently stated -- is FUH-lawless and has never been done so accurately. And the clip IS -- as you stated -- jam-packed with knowing references that even casual fans wouldn't get (I tried it on a straight "fan" at work and it all went by him). So I saw the fart as the PERFECT way to build up to the infamous Madonna "faaaan" freakout. (I imagined that Madonna had talked her aged costar into trying a macrobiotic diet on the set or something and we all know what that does to a beginner's stomach -- RIIIIP!)
And then you throw in that Lola Falana line(!) ... loved it all!
Thanks for posting my collaboration with Austin Young. I also collaborated with Selene Luna and Salamo Levin in "Madonna and Child"
Thanks for all of the comments, be they yay or nay, cause that's (insert witty delivery) what makes us Americans!
