Caroline Kennedy to Seek Clinton's Senate Seat

Although my feelings about Caroline Kennedy's Senate bid remain mixed, more than anything I am kind of shocked to hear that it REALLY IS TRUE and not some made-up tabloid story. Something tells me that Gov. David Paterson will not have it in him to tell her no, either, even if he doesn't think she's the best person for the job. (She is JFK and Jackie O's daughter, after all.)

I think Caroline Kennedy is pretty much the only choice Paterson has now.

While he could certainly pick Andrew Cuomo, I suspect there's the fear factor of alienating party power players. The Kennedy name still has a strong influence in American politics. And lets not forget that he divorced a Kennedy.

I suspect that only the Clintons and the Cuomos think Andrew would be a better choice.

If Paterson does pick Kennedy, he satisfies party loyalty and picking a woman. If he doesn't pick her, perhaps she'll decide to run for Governor?

In a few weeks, it will be "Welcome to Washington, Senator Kennedy" (also seems she's dropped the Schlossberg from her name)

i'm kind of excited. even though she's "royalty," she still isn't a politician. it'll be a good addition to the Senate.
