Sorry Kenneth, why do you go to Starbucks anyway? The worst coffee I ever had in my live was at Starbucks. There a lot better coffee vendors in NYC with WiFi access. And if you just do it for the free access you get what you ask for. Cheap places attract cheap people!
You have no idea. I used to work at Barnes & Noble that had a cafe there. Not only would people leave their empty coffee cups on bookshelves, but they'd literally take stacks of books and magazines, read them and leave them scattered on the floor throughout the store.
When did the local coffee shop become the place to study? I swear to god, you go into any $tarbuck$ in Ann Arbor and it looks like the libraries used to. I am tired of getting nasty looks from students when I go in with my well-behaved three year old daughter. No, she doesn’t drink coffee, but she does enjoy the environment and I enjoy going in to get a cup of coffee. If she does get loud or excited, it is temporary, so your withering glares do nothing to me. Go to the fucking library if you want it quiet. And I will continue to go to a coffee shop to enjoy a cup of coffee with my family.
I work at a cafe and you would be amazed. At least they only have there feet on the chair. I have had to ask people to take their bare feet off of table surfaces. Ugh.
I met up with a friend at a local Starbuck's during finals period and you wouldn't believe the looks we got from students just for talking at normal volume. GO TO THE LIBRARY!!
Also, I have witnessed said students ordering in pizza to that Starbuck's - if I were the manager, they'd never be allowed back.

You are correct... that is so gross. Did the culprit know of your disgust? What should be done in such cases, really?

OH MY GOD I hate that!!!!!! I recently saw a woman doing that on the subway. Not only was she taking up THREE SEATS but her feet were bare. GROSS.
For real - who DID raise these fiends?!?!?!?! *barf*
Gross. People are really clueless. I would have said something to her.
As long as they are not changing their babies on the tables, there's hope!
Couldn't agree with you more.
Yes, by wolves in BARNS!
Amen brotha! I can't stand people who make living rooms out of their local Starbucks! They definitely forget that they're still in public!!!
Ugh. LOL. That's real class.

I guess that writing "cheap places attract cheap people" is considered a very well-mannered behaviour in NYC.

Not related comment but this is akin to women putting on eyeliner, blush, mascara and lipstick in the subway. Uncouth and inappropriate!
