I am trying not to be shrill, but I am tired of my friends acting like I am harshing their Obama buzz by complaining about prop 8.
I also am tired of people telling me that this will all work out in time. Someday. Only people who have never faced discrimination would ever say something like this. As though the insult of being a second-class citizen is no big deal, something I should just get over.
Why should I give a damn that people 'just aren't ready'-- how is that a justificaiton for discrimination? Why should I sit quietly at the back of the bus, content that this will all go away in 20 or 30 years? What the hell good does that do ME and my partner of 11 years?
I expect the hate from the Christians and other relgious types, but the "progressives" who think that the anti-gay votes from election day are hardly worth mentioning hurt even more.
