must ... get ... drunk ... in ... heels ...

(EDITOR'S NOTE: This post was written by guest blogger Marc Lallanilla.)

You know the feeling: Your house has been destroyed by a hurricane, your whole family is missing or dead, and you need a margarita.

Residents of storm-ravaged Galveston are finding relief at Robert's Lafitte, a local gay bar and one of the only open bars in town. In addition to drag shows, the watering hole is featuring Tina Turner sing-alongs this week, presumably because she too survived a battering from Ike.

I Can't Stand the Rain

According to Brian DeLeon, a straight resident who had never before visited the bar, "It's more than a life saver. This is like the Coast Guard. I'm coming back here."

We like your attitude, Brian. Have one on us.
