Dateline: WA(L)SHINGTON

Hey, everyone! I'm writing to you from my digs in Dupont Circle here in the nation's capital. I'm back in my old stomping grounds for the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association conference and even though my blogger buds from last year's event in San Diego -- Greg and Johnny -- couldn't make it this year, I'm really looking forward to getting started. The idea of Washington in August sounded awful, but it's unbelievably gorgeous out, so it makes being back "home" again that much more fun. After taking the train down this afternoon I met up with my pals Jean, Kandy and Ken for a great dinner over at Lauriol Plaza (my fave Mexican restaurant). Now it's after midnight and I have to get up MUCH earlier than I'm used to (which isn't saying much seeing as I normally wake up at 1:30 p.m.), so I think I'm going to keep the blogging short and sweet for now with the idea of posting updates throughout the seminar. My pal Frank Anthony Polito has graciously agreed to fill in a bit for me while I'm away ( I FINALLY started reading his novel, "Band Fags," on the train down and it's so fun and so sweet!). So enjoy spending some time with him, and I will be posting more later. All for now.

I LOVE these photos in old color print. really cool!

I just watched the movie C.R.A.Z.Y. and this reminds me of the era. It's a french Canadian movie. The protaganist was born in 1960 - I know you are younger, but I think you would like the movie.

well welcome to DC! we've actually been having this weather for about 12 days now. It's ridiculous. I guess it's the upside to climate change? See, Al Gore was just being negative!

Oh hey, I was in Dupont the other day to sit and draw. Yay, d.c. life. Apparently I'm a local now.
