Was your "coming out" story a real knee-slapper? If so, Bryan Kosarek wants to hear from you. Inspired by his boyfriend's unpleasant attempt at coming out, Bryan is looking to collect a few hundred of the funniest coming out stories from around the world, and then archive them on his Web site, The World Is Coming Out, as a way to provide support, inspiration and -- most of all -- laughs for future generations. "I would like for the queens, lesbots, bi folk, trannies, jocks, nerds, my old principal of my elementary school, gym teachers, actors, and, well, basically anyone who will share their story with me ... to share, " Bryan explains on his site. "The majority of coming out stories are not funny. That's why we need to laugh and share the ones that are!"
Sounds like a really fun idea to me. I only wish my "official" story were as hilarious as it should have been. I shared mine with the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center on National Coming Out Day last year. Does a laugh-to-keep-from-crying kind of tale meet your criteria, Bryan? If so, then count me in!
