Keeping It 'Real'

Girls Just Want to Have Funds: Ramona Singer, Jill Zarin, Luann de Lesseps, Bethenny Frankel and Alex McCord

I finally got around to watching the premiere episode of Bravo's "Real Housewives of Orange County" spin-off, "The Real Housewives of New York City." Like its West Coast sister, I have a feeling I'm going to love hating these women, with the possible exception of LuAnn deLesseps, for whom I'm thinking of starting a gay fan club. (Check out her site The Countess Report and you'll see what I'm talking about! If I don't have my picture taken with her on New York Social Diary by the end of the year I'm offing myself.) Prior to my seeing this disgraceful exhibition my pal had sent me a heads-up e-mail, which so thoroughly explains the show that I've decided to just share it with you instead of trying to review it myself:

I’m watching the NY real housewives and I can’t believe it, but they’re more outrageous than the Orange County girls. One of these women (Alex McCord) married her gay best friend – I’m convinced of it. They go shopping together and “wouldn’t dream of buying clothes without the other one.” In addition, he’s British (affected British –- not rough British) which doesn’t help matters. They have two kids but I’m not convinced they’re his. She’s the one who says “I don’t ever want to live in the suburbs” but she lives in Brooklyn which, aside from the literal city limit boundary is, for all intents and purposes, the suburbs.

The tennis coach is hot -– you’ll like him. They should have asked you to be one of the wives. They let the "Apprentice" reject in and she’s not married so the field has been opened up. Maybe they can introduce you midway through –- like Quinn.

Alex McCord's husband is Australian, not British. But I agree he must be gay...those speedos, that suit, that job...

This show is almost as shallow as you are. Enjoy!
