Afternoon Headlights (02/11)

  • Friends With Benefits: A look at the dissolution of BFFs Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte -- and their trainer Brian McNamee in the wake of steroid accusations: For many men, loyalty is sacred. Except when it isn't. Friendship hasn’t been this fraught since the days of Linda Tripp and Monica Lewinsky. (NYT)

  • Autopsy Report: "Brad Renfro Killed By Accidental Heroin Overdose": He was casually taking heroin and THIS had to happen. Just an accident. (eFluxMedia)

  • Grammy Turns 50: I've never been a Grammys fan, but I was happy to see the troubled Amy Winehouse win big and even happier to see Tina Turner looking fierce with Beyonce dueting on "Proud Mary." These pics reveal Cyndi Lauper and Cher were there too, although the only other legend I saw was Aretha Franklin who should not have been wearing that outfit in public. (NYT)

  • Cannonball! It's the return of the Breeders. (Pitchfork) And do I hear R.E.M.? (NYMag)

  • LGBT-Friendly: Trendy Kimpton Hotels has become the first lodging company to have all of its properties as members of the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association. (Kimpton)

  • The Real Estate Factor: People frequently ask me if Michael and I are ever going to move in together. We each have rent-stabilized one-bedroom apartments that are only big enough for one full-time resident. This article in today's Times, Love Me, Love My Apartment, helps explain why we're both OK with this arrangement. (NYT)

  • Tough Mission: A group of gay Mormons is seeking an unprecedented meeting with the new church president and his counselors, hoping to begin a conversation and find ways to address the concerns of its members. (Good luck with that one.) (AP)

  • RIP: Roy Scheider, who starred in my childhood obsession "Jaws" back when I was in second grade, died on Sunday afternoon in Little Rock, Ark. He was 75 and lived in Sag Harbor, N.Y. (NYT)

They (other schoolmates) used to say I was "high on sharks" when I was in 7th grade. Hehehe....what a nerd.

i was going to send you that picture of Clemens and Pettit. But I figured that with it being in the NYTimes and you being aware of every news outlet on the globe, you would already have it. And I was right.

Even though I know there's nothing there, it makes me think of the book, "The Dreyfus Affair."

I thought Cyndi looked amazing while still managing to have her inherent kookiness. Just gorgeous. Cher is looking odd still, overstuffed and the wig looks steamy. Tina has a bizarre thing going on but could still deliver. I wish the Grammys had gotten Madonna, Prince and Jacko on the same stage since all 3 turn 50 this year, just like Grammy. But otherwise, I thought it was a terrific show with amazing performances and a beautiful set. And I usually hate these things. Still, nobody watched...

I worked for 11 years at Fox & Hounds in Bloomfield Hills and I have to tell you, NOTHING was more disgusting than watching Aretha Franklin eating...

I nearly lost a finger more than once.
