RIP

I was so sad to read that the beautiful Suzanne Pleshette died Saturday at her home in Los Angeles at the much-too-young age of 70. I never met the woman, yet I feel like I've known her my whole life. Growing up, "The Bob Newhart Show" was THE show in my household and I don't think we've had a family get-together in 30 years that didn't include some obscure reference to Bob Hartley and the gang. Suzanne's Emily -- the sardonic voice of reason for the show's six-year run -- was always my favorite. A classy broad whose legacy will live on, but who will be greatly missed, especially by me. as a bot growing up who thought he was gay, I was in love with her. May she rest in peace

Couldn't agree more. All time favorite show and SP was a beaut and smarts.

I remember how effortlessly my friends and I would fall into a quoting frenzy after every new Newhart episode. The writing was crisp and funny and smart and Suzanne was the perfect irreverent balance for Bob's low-key persona and dry wit. Later on, no one could have played Leona Helmsley meaner or better--or even dared to portray Karen's bawdy mom on Will & Grace. And what a classic ending to the second Newhart series having Pleshette wake up in bed next to Bob ten years later on the original set with him describing his strange dream about having a Vermont inn. I also feel like I've lost an old friend. Thanks for the many many laughs and warm memories, Suzanne!

I was surprised how sad this news made me. I always enjoyed Suzanne's work, and my mom and I used to watch the old Newhart show all the time when I was a kid. "Oh, Bob..."

Ahhhh, Suzanne -- we will miss her!!! She was so cool as Emily --the quick wit always reminds me of Mom.

A gag gift from the House of Tacky. :-)
