The writing was crisp and funny and smart and Suzanne was the perfect irreverent balance for Bob's low-key persona and dry wit. Later on, no one could have played Leona Helmsley meaner or better--or even dared to portray Karen's bawdy mom on Will & Grace. And what a classic ending to the second Newhart series having Pleshette wake up in bed next to Bob ten years later on the original set with him describing his strange dream about having a Vermont inn. I also feel like I've lost an old friend.
