  • Fucked in the Ass: The district attorney who defended the Texas law criminalizing homosexuality before the U.S. Supreme Court is desperately trying to keep his job following the discovery of e-mails containing sexually explicit videos, racist jokes and what is described as torrid love notes to his executive secretary. Harris County District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal, a Republican who is married and portrayed himself as a "family values" candidate, ended his re-election campaign last week after the gross e-mails to his secretary were discovered. His current term runs out at the end of 2008. (365Gay) In his arguments he condemned adultery and homosexual acts: "I think that this Court having determined that there are certain kinds of conduct that it will accept and certain kinds of conduct it will not accept may draw the line at the bedroom door of the heterosexual married couple because of the interest that this Court has that this Nation has and certainly that the State of Texas has for the preservation of marriage, families and the procreation of children," Rosenthal told the justices. • Sucks With a Capital S: Like Sacramento isn't horrible enough of a place, now they're trying to stop people from having sex in public. (Advocate)

  • Down Under: Poor Marat Safin. The former Australian Open champ came back from two sets down against Marcos Baghdatis only to lose the match, 6-2 in the fifth. The sexy Russian tried flashing his belly and playing with his head, but in the end it just wasn't enough to overcome the outspoken Turkey-hating Greek Cypriot. (Yahoo)

  • Golden Gurls: San Francisco has announced plans for a affordable housing development for LGBT senior citizens. (365Gay) Meantime, the first assisted care home for gays and lesbians in Europe opened this week in Berlin. (365Gay)

  • Asking for It: Well, the truth has finally clawed its way out. One of the three victims of San Francisco Zoo tiger attack has admitted he was intoxicated and was yelling and waving at Tatiana while standing atop the railing of the big cat enclosure, police said in court documents filed Thursday. No word on whether the men were dressed provocatively. (AP)

  • He's Not a Doctor: I don't think "Dr." Phil should be in hot water over his involvement in the Britney Spears clusterfuck. I think he should be in hot water for being a douche bag in general. (AH)

  • Film Rush: Will the writers' strike turn the Sundance Film Festival into a buying frenzy? (AP)

  • Wild On: Get ready for spring break in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. -- Todd Stephens style. Writer-director Stephens, who put a queer twist on teen comedies like "American Pie" with "Another Gay Movie" in 2006, is back with more magic in "Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild!" I loved the first one and am eager to see the sequel, although I don't see either of the cute guys from the original -- Jonathan Chase or Michael "pie lover" Carbonaro -- listed as being in it. (Advocate)

  • Murderous Talent: Truly fascinating and bizarre, from the Times Book Review: "Entering Hdes: The Double Life of a Serial Killer" examines the life of Jack Unterweger, who went to prison at 24 for the murder of a young German woman and then began to write poems, plays and self-refashioning autobiographical novels. One novel, “Purgatory,” was a best seller. Soon Unterweger became the darling of Vienna’s radical-chic set, who discovered in his literature the proof of a reformed man. A lobbying campaign for his release began and on May 23, 1990, having served the minimum possible sentence, Unterweger was paroled. In the 18 months following his release, he became an Austrian celebrity, lionized by literarniks (literary intellectuals) and promis (prominent people) alike. He gave readings throughout Austria and Germany, he staged his plays and he worked as a reporter for the ORF -- Austria’s equivalent of the BBC. He also killed 11 women. When news of the first killings came to light, Unterweger -- in an act of astonishing nerve --established himself as a key journalist covering the case. He interviewed Vienna’s chief of police and produced a series of radio broadcasts and newspaper essays on the subject. (Isn't that a conflict of interest?!) It would take nine months before an arrest warrant was issued for Unterweger. (NYT)

Kenneth, thank you for putting Chuck's email address out there. I hope people will get in touch with him. I'm a resident of Houston (Harris County, TX) and I really wish he would step down. He has another mess that has been stirred up last night. It isn't gay related but a gay man has called him out on it (it has to do with an idictment against a judge) and has taken it public.

The kicker is what an unattractive woman Mr. Rosenthals secretary is compared to his wife. But heteros have always got by with adultery and such as opposed to a gay man or woman. It's the same ole same ole here in Houston as anywhere else.
