Melbourne Massacre

Not even a career-high 42 aces could save Andy Roddick from going down in five hard-fought sets to 29th-ranked Philipp Kohlschreiber in a third-round Australian Open match that started Friday and finished at 2:04 a.m. Saturday. And that was just one of the many major upsets Down Under: last year's runner-up Fernando Gonzalez lost to 19-year-old Croatian Marin Cilic; No. 2 Svetlana Kuznetsova fell in straight sets to 18-year-old Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland; No. 6 Anna Chakvetadze lost 6-7 (6), 6-1, 6-2 to No. 27 Maria Kirilenko; and 2006 Aussie Open champ Amelie Mauresmo lost in three sets s to No. 78-ranked Casey Dellacqua on Friday night. With Roddick out American hopes turned to James Blake, who was only two points from joining his Davis Cup teammate and Gonzalez as an upset third-round loser at the Australian Open. But Blake rallied from down two sets, then from a double break in the fourth before beating veteran Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean 4-6, 2-6, 6-0, 7-6 (5), 6-2 on Saturday afternoon in only his second five-set victory of his career. An exciting week of tennis that should get even better in the second week.

I hate it when the eye candy get expelled in the early rounds.

What's with the gurls only playing two sets after Roget and Janko play for over 4 hours? If you want the same PAY, shouldn't they play the same game???????????
