Martina Hingis Retires Amid Cocaine Allegations

I can't imagine a more shocking turn of events in the world of tennis than former world No. 1 Martina Hingis suddenly retiring (again) -- but this time amid allegations that she's a toot head. (Is she really that close to Jennifer Capriati?) "I find this accusation so horrendous, so monstrous that I've decided to confront it head on by talking to the press," Hingis said, her voice breaking as she fought back tears as she read a prepared statement. "I am frustrated and angry. I believe that I am absolutely 100 percent innocent." After reading the AP story and her denial of things it really has me wondering if the testing agencies are really as careless and error-prone as all of these jocks who test positive for doping would have you believe, or if the athletes are just a bunch of liars. In this case, though, it's just an unfortunate ending to short but brilliant career. (AP)

It just doesn't make sense. If I lost to Laura Granville, I'd take heroin.
