'Life of Reilly'

Here's the trailer for "Life of Reilly," the big-screen adaptation of Charles Nelson Reilly's acclaimed one-man show that was photographed for the screen during his final two performances of his play in North Hollywood, California. Read the description below and you'll understand why I can't wait to see it!
If, in 1940, you had a lobotomized aunt, an institutionalized father, a racist mother, and were the only gay kid on the block, what do you think the odds would be that you'd end up a Tony winner, a staple of television, and a generational icon? Enter "The Life Of Reilly". The cliché goes that truth is stranger than fiction. In this case, it is also funnier and more heartbreaking. Charles Nelson Reilly, famous for his game show innuendos and "X Files" guest appearances, takes us through his bizarre, star-studded, tragic, hilarious, and ultimately amazing life with a potent blend of tenderness and quick one-liners.

I saw "Life of Reilly" at the Provincetown Film Festival in 2006 and LOVED it--in fact, it was the best film I saw that year. If it's playing anywhere near you, grab your friends and run to see it. Believe me, you don't need to have known Charles Nelson Reilly's work to be touched by this film. Gosh, I can't say enough except that you will laugh, cry, and leave the theatre feeling like you just learned about a very special person. I will be extremely happy to see the words "Oscar Winner" on the DVD release of this film. RIP Charles Nelson Reilly.
