Page 1 Consider (10/05)

  • Elephant in the Room: Those nutty Log Cabin Republicans are targeting GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney in a new ad campaign, seeking to undercut his support among social conservatives by highlighting his past statements in support of abortion rights. Romney, a former J.C. Penney catalog underwear model Massachusetts governor, has spent months courting social conservatives in key primary states, trying to erase doubts about his previous moderate stands. While I applaud the group's "Daily Show"-esque efforts, it's striking that they remain silent on Romney's views of homosexuality. Lately Romney has been running a radio ad casting himself as the only major GOP candidate backing a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage yet she was the belle of the ball back when he was Massachusetts governor. • Roxanne Pulitzer Will Sleep Tonight: The Palm Beach County, Fla., legislature, on a vote of 6–1, approved a measure Tuesday that would specifically protect the rights of transgender people, according to a report on the Web site Out in Miami. The "yes" vote was split between three Democrats and three Republicans, while another Democrat voted against it. This is such great news. Everyone loves a tranny socialite. (Advocate)

  • Lost Cause: Why is GLAAD even wasting its breath trying to get the same paper that pushed this so-clever cartoon (get it?) to stop making disparaging remarks about transgender people? (Although I have to admit, Page Six editor Richard Johnson's response was kinda hi-lar-i-ous!!!) (Advocate)

  • Defiant Diva: Even if Senator Larry Craig isn't really gay he sure has proven that he's a big drama queen. (NYT)

  • Your Cheatin' Heart: How does Yankees third-baseman Alex Rodriguez make up for humiliating his wife by flaunting his affairs in her face? He knocks her up. What is this, the 1950s? Talk about your (multi)million dollar baby. (SplashNews)

  • And You Thought Sharing Was a Good Thing: The recording industry on Thursday won the largest judgment so far against consumers who illegally download music over the Internet when a federal jury ordered a 30-year-old Minnesota woman to pay $222,000 for copyright infringement. Yeah. I'm sure someone who can't cough up a buck to download a song off iTunes will have no problem doing that. Does the court take checks? (LAT)

  • MMMClot: One of the Hanson brothers had to undergo surgery for blood clot in his lungs yesterday. Next thing you know you're gonna tell me Tina Yothers has Alzheimer's disease. (AP)

  • Showcase Showdown: Bob Barker's gone but the lawsuits over at "The Price Is Right" never end ... (AP)

  • 'The Darjeeling Limited': I'm happy to see funnyman Owen Wilson is back in action. (AP)

  • After the Gold Rush: The former track star Marion Jones, one of the most accomplished female athletes in the world, is expected to plead guilty today to lying to federal agents about her use of steroids. The admission would end years of denial and would likely lead to her being stripped of the record five medals she won in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. (NYT)

GLAAD will be wasting its breath as long as people like you continue to find bigot Richard Johnson hi-lar-i-ous.

I can't read you anymore. It's too painful. Good luck with the blog.
