Page 1 Consider (09/10)

  • Give Us More, Please: Somewhere, Kevin Federline is laughing. An out-of-shape, out-of-touch Britney Spears delivered what was destined to be the most talked about performance of the MTV Video Music Awards but for all the wrong reasons. Kicking off the show Sunday night with her new single, "Gimme More," Spears looked bleary and unprepared, much like her recent tabloid exploits on the streets of Los Angeles. She walked through her dance moves with little enthusiasm. She appeared to have forgotten the art of lip-synching. And, perhaps most unforgivable given her once-taut frame, she looked embarrassingly out of shape. (This is an AP article but my best friend in Orange County had just called me and said the same thing verbatim!) (AP)

  • Class of 1967: The stars came out to help Ralph Lauren celebrate 40 years of style. (NYT)

  • Not Enough Hate in This World: I love that the GOP's evangelical nutjobs are already starting to have issues with Fred Thompson. Why? He might not hate gays enough. (AP)

  • Nazi Princess: In a case that would seem unthinkable in the Jewish state, police said Sunday they have cracked a cell of Israeli neo-Nazis accused in a string of attacks on foreign workers, religious Jews, drug addicts and gays. I sure hope Andrea Peyser's husband, Mark Phillips, was able to bail her out in time for her to make her deadline. (AP)

  • Terminator 2? A gay-marriage bill is on its way to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger -- again. He acts so tough in the movies but will he finally have a big enough set of balls to sign it? (Gay.com)

  • Prai$e the Lord: The Roman Catholic diocese of San Diego agreed Friday to pay $198 million to settle 144 claims of sexual abuse by clergy, the second-largest payment since the U.S. abuse scandal erupted in 2002. The agreement capped more than four years of negotiations in state and federal courts. It came six months after the diocese filed for bankruptcy protection just hours before the first of 42 lawsuits was scheduled for trial. (AP)

  • He the Ho: Despite the fact that everybody knows he's a closet-case fag and a hypocrite, Idaho Senator Larry Craig will attempt to withdraw his guilty plea in the bathroom-sex scandal that has ended his political career. Why won't he just go away? (AP)

  • Green Bay Daddy: Brett Favre tied John Elway's record for the most wins as a starting quarterback. Not bad for an "old-timer." (AP)

There is a very good extract titled "How gay slurs almost wrecked my career" from an autobiography of David Beckham at http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/article2419068.ece

Haven't seen it mentioned on any of the gay oriented blogs, but I think it is an important look at homophobia in sports.
