Page 1 Consider (08/07)

  • Dutch Treat: Gays, lesbians, bisexuals and a large contingent of heterosexuals put on their brightest plumage Saturday, and a rainbow fleet sailed through Amsterdam's historic canals, as the city celebrated its annual Gay Pride festival. (AP)

  • Flame Out: Four San Diego city firefighters have filed a complaint with the state saying their (lezzie) superiors forced them to participate in the recent gay pride parade where they became targets of obscene gestures and sexual comments. Are they sure the crowd didn't just get riled up thinking they were with him? (SDUT)

  • It Runs in the Family: Just like her dad, Rudy Giuliani, did on gay and abortion rights, his 17-year-old daughter, Caroline, is backpedaling about her Facebook profile that said she was supporting Barack Obama for president. The apple obviously doesn't fall far from this tree. I hope her three marriages are as fulfilling as his. (AP)

  • A Family Affair: The sensational headline reads: Battle Between Gay Man & Sick Partner's Family Highlights Lack Of Same-Sex Couple Rights but it should say Patrick Atkins' Parents Are Heartless Fuckheads. (365Gay)

  • Honest to God: Would someone please remind me why gays and lesbians find it necessary to kiss the ass of organizations that treat them like they're less than human? (365Gay)

  • Beyond Horror: Each new story about that heinous Connecticut home invasion is so gruesome it's hard to imagine human beings doing these things to one another. (NYT)

  • Honor Roll: Five new congressmen joined 126 of their colleagues on Friday to support legislation calling for the repeal of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" ban on openly gay service personnel. Reps. Michael A. Arcuri (D-N.Y.), Brian Baird (D-Wash.), Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Joe Sestak (D-Pa.), and Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) all signed on as cosponsors of the Military Readiness Enhancement Act (H.R. 1246), which increases the total number of congressional supporters to 131. Sestak is also Congress's highest-ranking veteran, retiring as a three-star admiral after having served 31 years in the U.S. Navy. Might another Clinton end up finishing what the first one started? (Advocate)

  • Holy Mother of Lang: Lesbians are bigamists too! (And, apparently, they have receding hairlines.) (BBCNews)

  • ABC Is Tops with GLAAD: With programs like "Ugly Betty" and "Brothers & Sisters," Disney-owned ABC does the best job of representing gay and lesbian images. That's the finding of a study released Monday by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. (Towleroad)

We've been covering the court case involving Patrick Atkins and Brett Conrad for a while now. I'm glad to see that the Indianapolis Star finally decided this was a story instead of writing puff pieces about how great the mother is for establishing a "prayer break" for her employees. See The Bilerico Project for more stories about this case with more depth to them.
