Breakfast(s) at Wimbledon

Wimbledon sure ended with a bang. While I'm furious that I had to leave for work at 2-2 in the fifth set, it turns out I had already witnessed all of the drama that was the men's final yesterday. Roger Federer tied Bjorn Borg's record of five in a row, but not before getting a very big scare from a red-hot Rafael Nadal, who had every right to cry when all was said and done. He played brilliantly yet somehow it was still not enough.

The previous morning wasn't nearly as thrilling. The only surprising thing about the women's final was that Venus Williams wore men's boxerbriefs (again) instead of a skirt. The resurgent Venus truly deserved this title, though, based on what she did to Maria Sharapova. I also thought it was sweet that she paid tribute to another sports star by wearing a lock of Secretariat's hair on her head as bangs.

Thank you! While watching Venus, I said several times "Aren't pony tails usually in the back? And aren't they normally HUMAN hair?" As for Roger, I was a nervous wreck watching that match, and I was really surprised he managed to win in five. In the fourth set it sure seemed like Nadal had his number. So much for Mats Wilander's comment that Federer has no balls...

I really felt bad for my little Rafa...congrats to Roger, though!!

Fortunately, I did not witness the Venus busted-weave fiasco...
