How sad for New York that our first openly gay council speaker, Christine Quinn, will miss the city's St. Patrick’s Day parade again this year, opting instead to be in Dublin where she is welcomed to march. Quinn’s trip is drawing attention to the controversy over the exclusion of gay groups from the New York City parade. It is kind of mind-boggling that the organizers of the New York parade can be so homophobic and bigoted considering the long history of bigotry and outright hatred against the Irish in this country.
It's pathetic.
