Blown It All Sky High: A Qantas flight attendant is in hot water after allegedly having a mid-air sex romp with actor Ralph Fiennes. Pending further probing (huh-huh), Lisa Robertson is grounded without pay, and will be fired if the airline determines sex did, in fact, take place. Crew members claim Robertson went down under with the “English Patient” star in the aircraft’s business-class restroom. Robertson, however, claims Fiennes followed her into the stall where, with door locked, she attempted to stave off his advances. The flight attendant said her action was "common practice on long flights to build a rapport with passengers." (MSNBC)
Changing Majors: Dozens of students have staged a rally and march in support of a professor at a Christian university in Michigan who says she was fired after disclosing she is a transitioning transsexual. "She was a good teacher, she was well-respected, she should be able to work here," protester Joel Skene told WLNS-television. Spring Arbor University informed Prof. Julie Nemecek that it would not renew her contract, after removing her from the classroom when she informed university president President Gayle Beebe she had been diagnosed with gender identity disorder. "Spring Arbor requires its faculty and administrators to be Christians and to follow biblical principles in all aspects of their lives," the university said in a statement. (365Gay)
Late-Breaking News? NYT: House Begins Full Debate on the Iraq War ... um, yeah, ah, shouldn't they have begun this more than four years ago? (NYT)
Straight Up: If Paula Abdul wants people to stop accusing her of being drunk on "American Idol," then why doesn't she quit getting hammered on the show? (AP)
Cries for Help: The coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Andy Reid, is taking a leave of absence through mid-March to spend more time with whacked out kids. It seems one son tested positive for heroin after causing a traffic accident and another was arraigned on drug and weapons charges. Jesus, do you think a month off is enough time? I just hope this Father of the Year can find a suitable 12-step program for drama queens. (AP)
Calvin and Knobs: Newsweek weighs in on that so recent trend of designer underwear, and by recent I mean 1989. I, for one, prefer a guy in a more traditional pair.(Newsweek)
Career With Legs: It's no secret that Apple products are anything but reliable, so it only stands to reason that iPod doctors are the most sought-after repairmen in town. (AP)
Full Nelson: Apparently most "dudes" don't want to see Ryan Gosling films because they associate him with chick flicks. I can't get enough 'cause I associate him with being really hot. (VanityFair)
Foster Parents: Apparently being gay is worse than being a crack addict when it comes to caring for children in Florida. I don't know why I'm the least bit surprised: being a murderer was deemed better than being a lesbian in Virginia. (365Gay)
Blogging 101: Now that both of the chief campaign bloggers for Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards have quit following a bashing they took from conservative critics about their history of provocative online messages, it might be a good time to reflect on what the story of Melissa McEwan (Shakespeare’s Sister) and Amanda Marcotte (Pandagon) means to the rest of the blogging community. I've never been embroiled in the kind of controversy these two women have, but here's an idea: it's probably not a good idea to speculate about what would have happened "if Mary had taken Plan B after the Lord filled her with his hot, white, sticky Holy Spirit." Beyond that, I think you're pretty free to write what you like. (AP)
O Canada: It's refreshing to hear that it's not just our dickhead president who is trying to stack the courts with right-wing judges in a bid to undermine civil rights. (365Gay)
Anita Bryant He Ain't: After all those years under Jebb Schiavo Bush's reign of stupidity, don't tell me Florida has finally gotten a governor with a brain -- and balls. Newly elected Republican governor Charlie Crist says the GOP should stop spending money to advance a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage in Florida. "I just think that their money can be better spent on other things that may be more pressing," Crist told the St. Petersburgh Times. "The people care about issues like insurance premiums. They care about property taxes. They care about public safety." Kudos to the new gov! Something tells me we're not going to find out this guy is a homosexual in a few years. (MiamiHerald)
Alexei's Story 3: So this is where they get all the hot young men for those Bel Ami videos. (365Gay)
Lost in Love: A couple in Olympia, Wash., Jeff Ingram and Penny Hansen, are trying to rekindle their romance after the man suffered a rare form of amnesia. You may recall that Jeff wound up on a Denver street with no recollection of how he got there. He was found, but Jeff had no idea who he was, much less who Penny was. What a tragic story. It's too bad Penny didn't forget how much she loves angel food cake though. (AP)

On that story about the transgender professor, the backstory is whether anti-discrimination laws apply to religious institutions. Check out my post on the issue at http://jweissdiary.blogspot.com
So the strong silent type likes a head job too. Who would have thunk it. I was disappointed that it was a female flight attendant though. Whats wrong with angel food cake? LMAO!
Hey thanks for reposting the story about Julie Nemecek (the professor). I am the student that organized the rally in support of her. We can use all the attention and coverage we can get to put pressure on the school.
