Page 1 Consider (02/08)

  • Astro-nut: I'm going to blame my having (yet) another cold for my completely missing the mark with my headlines on the astronaut love triangle story (shame on me). Both the Post and the Daily News killed me with theirs!!! (NYP and NYDN)

  • The Plame Game: NBC newsman Tim Russert testified Wednesday to something we've known all along: Dick Cheney's henchman I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby is a big fat liar. (AP)

  • Judge Judy (Garland): Officials from a suburban Massachusetts school district asked a federal judge Wednesday to dismiss a lawsuit filed by two couples who claim their parental rights were violated when homosexuality was discussed in their children's classrooms. I say bravo. If I had to sit through that disgusting filmstrip about a man putting his penis in a woman's vagina, then these Beantown Babies can suck up a little sodomy, too. (AP)

  • Tarnished Nation: Pop pervert Gary Glitter's sentence for molesting two little girls -- ages 10 and 11 -- was reduced by a Vietnamese court on Wednesday. The reduction cuts the former glam rocker's three-year jail term by three months as part of a nationwide Lunar New Year prison amnesty. This is absolutely disgusting. Where's the amnesty from the memory of this horror for these young victims? Why he was only sentenced to three years in the first place and is being set free early on top of it is obscene. Perhaps his inability to buy children for sex while in the slammer is throwing off the local economy. Disgusting. (Scotsman)

  • Be My Bailiff: The judge in the murder case against Phil Spector said Wednesday he’s leaning toward allowing the trial to be televised and will make a decision after hearing from lawyers later this month. The 67-year-old music producer -- who should have been sitting in jail for the past four years -- is charged with killing the lovely actress Lana Clarkson in his suburban mansion on Feb. 3, 2003. I wonder if the courtroom will be equipped to capture the trial in proper Wall of Sound fashion. (AP)

  • O.J. Simpson: If He Spent It (he shouldn't have). (Reuters)

  • Good Judgment: I was flying off the handle prematurely on this one yesterday: Bail was denied on Wednesday for Anthony Fortunato, one of the three remaining defendants facing trial in the October death of gay man Michael Sandy. Fortunato's family had raised $1.3 million in the event that bail would be granted, but Judge Jill Konviser-Levine of the New York State Supreme Court in Brooklyn decided not to allow Fortunato to go. (I like this judge already.) (Advocate)

  • NBA: Just-out former basketball star John Amaechi talks to The Advocate in the March 13 issue, due on stands Feb. 27 (and in my mailbox March 17). (WTF!!!!) (Advocate)

  • On-Air 'Personality': Three months after he was fired from a Boston radio station for calling a gubernatorial candidate a "fat lesbian" talk show host John DePetro is back on the air -- this time in Rhode Island. Providence radio station WPRO confirmed Wednesday that it has hired DePetro for its morning show, citing his history of "high ratings" and "provocative conversation." Yeah, I can see why hearing a grown man call a woman a "fat lesbian" on-air would appeal to so many listeners. This is the same man who was suspended last July for calling the head of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority a "fag." At the time Matt Amorello was under fire after a concrete ceiling panel on a turnpike tunnel fell on a car killing a woman. On the program DePetro referred to Amorello as "Fag Matt." This one's a real charmer. (Gay.com)

  • Hard Time Ahead? A Denver judge has ruled there is enough evidence against one of the hottest guys ever Timothy Boham to proceed to trial in the killing of millionaire businessman John Paul Kelso. Kelso, 43, was found shot to death in his Denver home by a housekeeper last November. Kelso, who was openly gay, had made a sizable fortune in the debt recovery businesses and had taken Boham under his wing after giving up his adult film career more than a year ago (there's got to be more to that angle of the story). Under the stage name Marcus Allen, Boham appeared in "Little Big League," "Through the Woods," "Never Been touched," and "Ripe." What a tragedy for Kelso and his loved ones, and for the two young daughters Boham leaves behind. I wonder if he's seen "Powertool." ... (Gay.com)

  • Tranny U: A married father of three professor at a Christian school in Michigan has been fired after being told that "cross-dressing" does not reflect biblical principles. I think nearby Madonna University might be more her speed anyway. (365Gay)

  • Scared of You, Mr. Congressman: Lesbian-in-training Condi Rice got quite a grilling on Capitol Hill yesterday after whining about the country's "foreign language deficit" -- only to be reminded by Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-NY) that under "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" more than two dozen Arabic translators have been dropped since the war in Iraq began and were available for the Defense Department to hire. "For some reason, the military seems more afraid of gay people than they are against terrorists, but they're very brave with the terrorists," Ackerman said."If the terrorists ever got a hold of this information, they'd get a platoon of lesbians to chase us out of Baghdad."
