Page 1 Consider (12/12)

  • Danny Alert: Michael saw most eligible bachelor Danny Roberts (of "Real World" New Orleans fame) walking near the Savoy Hotel on West 23rd Street yesterday evening. If you read this, Danny, please e-mail me. I have my lover's boyfriend's permission to Q&A you all afternoon. (previously)

  • Heaven Help Us Them: By now surely you've heard about yet another Denver-area preacher who has come forward as a closet homosexual (this time as the result of an anonymous tipster who called his church). Now, the Rev. Paul Barnes of Grace Chapel joins PNP bottom "boy" Ted Haggard as yet another fallen evangelical minister who preached that homosexuality was a sin but grappled with a hidden life. "I have struggled with homosexuality since I was a 5-year-old boy," Barnes said in a 32-minute video for his megachurch. Barnes said the only time he had talked to his father about sex, his father told him what he would do if a "fag" walked up to him. Barnes recalled thinking, "Is that how you’d feel about me?’ It was like a knife in my heart, and it made me feel even more closed." He went on to say: "I can't tell you the number of nights I have cried myself to sleep, begging God to take this away." Um, take what away? You're gay. And just because your dad was either a complete fuckhead or also a closet homosexual, is that any reason for you to then preach against others who are going through the same turmoil you are? Far be it for me to kick a man when he's down, but where is any trace of Godliness in any of this, Mr. Barnes? (DP)

  • 'Real' Scary: Like we haven't all been asking this question for years: Q: What is wrong with Beth on 'Real World Challenge"? -- Beth, Connecticut (MSNBC)

  • Poor Baby: What kind of world are we living in when a convicted murderer has to live in a prison that "is a closed-off world designed to isolate inmates from social and environmental stimuli"? Those are serial bomber Eric Rudolph's words -- the man responsible for the 1997 bombing of an Atlanta gay bar and three other blasts including the 1996 bombing at the Atlanta Olympics. Now I'm not exactly Nancy Grace, but someone needs to shut this guy up. My thoughts go out to the family of Alice Hawthorne, who perished in the Olympic Park bombing. I'm sorry you have even have to listen to this monster's words again. (365Gay)

  • 'Grace'ful, Again: Kudos to the Supreme Court for unanimously upholding the conviction of a California man who had contended that he was denied a fair trial because people sitting in the courtroom were wearing pictures of the man he killed. I understand the need to not having defendants in prison garb or in shackles, but the very idea that family members of victims should be prohibited from memorializing their loved ones in any way they choose is as ridiculous as it is offensive. (WP)

  • Not exactly Econ 101: Colleges are having to raise their tuition so that prospective students think they're more exclusive? (NYT)

  • Sun Devils: In an attempt to elevate its programs, my alma mater Arizona State University has hired Dennis Erickson as its new football coach. You may recall that ASU produced pornstache star Jake Plummer, so it ain't all bad. My only question is who is the dude on the left? (AP)

I was furious about that story about Eric Rudolph being "uncomfortable" in jail! Good to know he's suffering!
