Page 1 Consider (11/14)

  • Construction Time Again: Mets players Jose Reyes and David Wright, Mayor Mike Bloomberg and Jeff Wilpon, the Mets' senior executive vice president, were on hand to break ground on the team's new home -- the unfortunately named Citi Field. (NYT)

  • Hook and Go Seek: My online BFF and former "Cheaters" host Jack E. Jett interviewed the Rev. Ted Haggard's heroic gay hooker, Mike Jones, recently for Radar (read the juicy article here.) Now the Advocate is shamelessly promoting its after-the-fact "gay press exclusive" interview with Jones here. (BTW: Jones posed nude in the gay fave mag Inches back in '98. His "8 cut" look more like an "AOL 8" to me, but you can be the judge for yourself here (definitely for home viewing only).

  • New Jewish Boy: He's all crazy characters on television and in the movies, but comedian Sacha Baron Cohen is a highly guarded, secretive figure within seconds of being out of character. (SMH)

  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: So I'm reading this great story that says Wal-Mart has agreed to donate 5% of online sales to the (Washington, D.C.) Community Center for Gay, Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender People from purchases made through the group's Web site. The article also went on to say that Wal-Mart's joining the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and agreeing to give generous financial help to that organization. Every purchase made online for books, music, videos, clothing and accessories, children's clothing and toys, and electronics at the site will automatically send 5% of the sales to the CCBLBT People. I'm thinking, Wow! Wal-Mart -- never known for having a good reputation when it comes to caring for nonstockholders -- is really doing something nice for people. Jump to the bottom paragraph and I read this: "The agreement is an indication that Wal-Mart is totally committed to supporting the homosexual movement. The AFA is asking our members and all concerned parties to help recruit 1,000,000 families who will agree not to shop at Wal-Mart or Sam's Club (owned by Wal-Mart) on the Friday and Saturday following Thanksgiving." Yes, it's the good people at the American Family Association spewing their hatred once again. (TheRealityCheck)

  • Auto Redial? Madonna is set to record with ABBA legends Agnetha Faltskog and Frida Lynstad for her new album. Madonna was the driving force behind the idea because she was so happy with her sample of "Gimme Gimme Gimme" on "Hung Up." "Agnetha and Frida loved it," says a source, "they really warmed to Madonna for rejuvenating one of their most famous tracks." (TheSun)

  • Doggy Style: Do you remember Tennie Pierce, the black firefighter who was served dog food in his spaghetti by fellow firefighters and awarded more than $2.7 million to settle a lawsuit alleging racial harassment within the Los Angeles Fire Department? Purported photos of him have surfaced on the Internet -- and what he's doing seems far worse than a little Alpo (wtf???) ... (John&Ken)

  • Two Wheels Good: Bidders looking for a piece of the "King of Cool" shelled out six figures for motorcycles and paid more than $70,000 for one pricey pair of shades in an auction of items that once belonged to actor Steve McQueen. (AP)

  • Rocky Mountain, Hi! I haven't watched any of it, but the new gay boy (Davis) on "The Real World: Denver" sure is a cutie. (Advocate) (You can watch his superhot audition tape over here.)

  • Sue Ellen Approved: The Old West is old news. That's the word from Dallas tourism officials attempting to lure gay and lesbian visitors with a message that the city is a great place for them to spend their time and money. Dallas is a diverse metropolitan area that "has left behind stereotypes of big-haired women and rowdy cowboys -- that is, unless you count sassy drag queens and strapping gay rodeo champs," according to a Web site operated by the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau. Um, ride 'em, cowboy? (AP)

  • Start Spreading the Hate: The number of hate crimes in New York City is up almost 8 percent from last year, with attacks on Jews and gays spiking the most, according to NYPD stats. If I were Jason Gould I would hightail it back to Malibu tout de suite. (NYP)

  • GOP's Broken Record: Let's see, the Republican National Committee is losing one closet-case asshole only to be headed by a new anti-gay asshole? "Senator [Mel] Martinez was elected in 2004 by taking page 1 out of Karl Rove’s gay-baiting playbook," said Joe Solmonese, president of the gay rights group Human Rights Campaign. "His campaign was one of the most anti-gay, bigoted, and divisive campaigns in the nation’s history. We are deeply troubled that this kind of senator has been chosen to lead the Republican Party." I can't wait to meet his gay hooker. (Advocate/AP)

I think it is funny that Walmart thinks "gays" want to shop there and not as something people in general must endure to get what they need cheap.

The Tennie stuff is just a way to smear him. Why were the photos released after the verdict?
