  • How Swede It Is: If you're as hot for Swedish soccer stud Olof Mellberg as I am, then you've got to check out this gal's tribute blog. (I HEART Olof)
  • Going Underground: You won't find a bigger support of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority than me. I find the subway far more convenient than a taxi any day, but the MTA's latest proposed cuts of $20 million to bus and subway service for next year just don't add up. Individual rides are already a pretty steep $2 and now they want to make cuts that will mean longer waits for many buses and trains -- which would then be more crowded. The mayor or whoever else has their head on straight needs to bail this thing out immediately. The subway is a big part of what makes New York City great and we shouldn't sit by idly while it collapses. (NYT)

  • RIP: Actor and champion bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay, Jayne Mansfield's ex-husband and father of actress Mariska, has died in Los Angeles at the age of 80. Born in Hungary in 1926, he emigrated to the U.S. after World War II and was named Mr Universe in 1955. He married Hollywood starlet Mansfield in 1958. "Words cannot express how saddened we are by the loss of Mickey," his family said in a statement. (AP)

I was surprised how bummed I was when I heard about the passing of Mickey. I didn't realize he was 80 - he looked pretty good to me. I think his daughter Mariska is such an interesting and charming person and I remember how touching it was when she won her Golden Globe a couple of years ago, with her dad and her (hot) husband in the audience, both looking so proud.
