M4M4Murder? The nude body of a one-time deputy press secretary for former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani was found strangled in his Manhattan apartment, authorities said Wednesday. The death of Martin Barreto, 49 (online age: 34), was ruled a homicide after an autopsy found that he died from "asphyxia due to compression of the neck."' There was no sign of forced entry, struggle or disarray in the apartment, A doorman told investigators that sometime before the slaying Barreto had told him he was expecting a visitor and instructed him to let him in. Police were searching for the visitor as a possible suspect. (Be careful out there, boys.) (NYT)

Hamburger Heaven: Jeffrey Tennyson, 54, an art director who wrote the pop-culture paean "Hamburger Heaven: The Illustrated History of the Hamburger," died at his Palm Springs home, it was reported Wednesday. After coming to the realization that "the real American icon is not apple pie -- it's hamburgers," he embarked on a journey of collecting hamburger memorabilia and artwork, at one point collecting enough to open a museum. I never knew the guy but he sure sounds like he would have been a riot to hang out with. May he rest in peace. (NYT)

Justice Delayed: The trial of four men accused of gay-bashing two American tourists -- my friend Dick Jefferson and his pal Ryan Smith -- has been postponed so that a Smith can return to testify in a St. Martin court. Smith cited financial reasons in asking for a delay, although the island's chief prosecutor Nacho Taco Stein says he offered to help pay for travel costs. (AP)
