On the (Brazilian) Waterfront

Back in May I interviewed the Brazilian actor/model Guto Bittencourt, who had just moved to New York City to further pursue his career. These days Guto tells me that he will appear in the photographer Guy Guido's a new project called "Icons," a photo exhibit, coffee-table book and documentary film that examines the phenomenon of how certain celebrities end up becoming cultural icons. Guto -- who fills out a T-shirt rather nicely -- is transformed into Marlon Brando, and other up-and-coming actors receive makeovers into various icons including Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor and Elvis. Look for the project in the fall of 2007.
