As these photos show, the U.S. really embarrassed itself in this year's World Cup. So much hype about how we were finally world-class contenders yet we only managed to score one goal in three games. Pretty sad stuff from our boys. (WP)

U.S. Put Out of Its Misery

It probably wouldn't have been so embarrassing if your coach hadn't made those pompous twat comments about other teams chances, thereby drawing down even greater scorn from the rest of the world.
Too much believing of own hype methinks! Guess what - the rest of the world knows the FIFA rating system is flawed.
Kenneth--
I'm not sure if you watched the U.S. vs. Ghana yesterday or not, but the U.S. team did not put in an all-out piss-poor performance. Who did? The officials. And everyone knew it. That penalty kick call at the end of the first half was a fucking joke. And it's nearly next to impossible for a goal keeper to stop a penalty kick at that level...Ghana was basically given a free goal.
Believe me, from playing untold years of competitive soccer...once that happens to you, the wind truly is let out of your sails. I'll admit that the U.S. team did pussyfoot around with the ball too much in the goalmouth in the second half, and didn't take the shots on goal that they should have, but the officials did them in.
Consider the fact that no U.S. officials are participating in the World Cup. They were not asked. And the other fact that the most revered former player in all of German soccer history Franz Beckenbauer went on record in the press as saying the officiating during this year's World Cup is at the worst it has ever, ever been...throwing out more yellow cards, red cards, and bad calls then ever before, rendering most games unwatchable.
Dogging the U.S. team for what happened to them yesterday is truly unfair. Just look at their faces in their your fourth pic....faces of despair as a result of that penalty kick given to Ghana. The proof is right there.
