Anderson Cooper: Transparently Yours

CNN cutie Anderson Cooper discussed the pros and cons of his newfound fame last night on "The Daily Show," explaining to Jon Stewart that these days it's harder to be an observer when people "recognize you when you arrive," but sometimes that same visibility "means you get a big interview like Angelina Jolie calls you up -- or, I mean not me personally calls me, but calls my show up." Stewart jumped in, "No, no. Don't back it away, Angelina Jolie calls you up ... " to which Anderson completely outed himself by saying (eyes a-rollin'!) "If ONLY she called me!" (You could practically hear a "girlfriend" dangling at the end of the sentence.) Oh, Anderson. Did you learn nothing from the Jodie Foster-Richard Gere pairing in "Sommersby"?

If only celebrities would come out already. You mentioned three right on your post (Jolie, Gere, and Coop).

Oh, and I saw Coop in NY -- I had just seen Brokeback Mountain and I saw him outside the theater. Maybe he was also watching Brokeback, in the same theater...Isn't that nice?

I don't believe the Gere rumor but his brother is gay and lives here in SF - or so a friend told me :)

For starters, Angelina has freely and openly discussed her feelings toward women; she's talked about her relationship with Jenny Shimizu.

Secondly, I'm not so sure about Gere bring gay anymore. But maybe I just don't think about it anymore.

But, oh yes, Anderson should open up a little. He doesn't talk about ANYTHING personal at all! I guess he figures that one question would lead to another and then he'd be backed into a corner.

Funny how Cooper has no problem airing his dead brother's dirty laundry.

I think people should come out on their own timetables, but they all should come out eventually.
