The Embarrassing Break-Up

Everybody knows it's a lot easier to make a good movie trailer than a good movie. I think there's only been one film in the history of cinema that had a bad trailer that actually turned out to be brilliant ( "Clueless" back in 1995). Something tells me Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn's new film "The Break-Up" isn't going to be the second.

As if the bad acting and idiot plot about two people who break up but then refuse to move out of the condo they live in weren't enough, the writers felt the need to slip in the embarrassing stock gay joke about Aniston's flamboyant brother: get ready to double over when Jen screams, "Richard's not gay!" (Get it? He so obviously is!) Poor John Michael Higgins is forced to mince around singing "Owner of a Broken Heart" a cappella at a dinner party (something no person in the history of the world has ever done).

This is the fifth Jennifer Aniston film in the past 10 months. How does this straight-to-video diva keep getting these roles anyway? But even putting those other bombs aside, the previews for "The Break-Up" truly make "Rumor Has It" look like -- well, "The Graduate."
