Gift Wrap

Michael and I had a very low-key weekend, still trying to process some of the sad news of late. It was cold and wet in New York, so I had a chance to enjoy some of the fun gifts I got for Christmas this year. Here's a peak at what was under my tree:
"Cheaters": If you haven't seen this ultimate reality show then you haven't really lived. A team of video-camera-armed private eyes take on "cases" of suspected infidelity -- then the victims are shown the evidence and taken to confront their wayward lovers. The footage is highly entertaining and frequently shocking, but the best part is host Tommy Grand, who becomes far more outraged and indignant about the cheaters than the wronged themselves. Classic television!

"Fool's Errand" a novel by Louis Bayard:I enjoyed Louis Bayard's book "Endangered Species," but this was his first novel and I hear his best. My brother plays tennis with the author and even got the book signed!

"Wigfield": Written by the trio behind "Strangers With Candy," it's gotta be funny.

"The Mary Tyler Moore Show" on DVD:I hit the Mary Richards mother lode this year: I got Season One and Season Two. Along with "The Bob Newhart Show," MTM is my all-time favorite. As good as the first season was, the show really gelled during the second year and it continued to get better with the addition of the Happy Homemaker. May my friends and family continue to be so thoughtful and generous in the years to come ...
"New York in the '70s":Combining my favorite city with one of my favorite eras, this book was about the funnest gift I got this year. Lots of photos of Studio 54 and Deborah Harry ... I've died and gone to heaven.
