Infuriated by a breakdown that halted local passenger trains for 20 minutes, Johannesburg commuters set fire to 19 train cars and nine engines at three Soweto-area stations on Wednesday, reducing some $6 million in equipment to cinders. A day earlier, commuters fed up with delays set fire to four commuter cars, and last month, 18 coaches and other railway carriages were similarly destroyed. (NYT)
