The Courtship of Eddie's Father ... in a 'Steambath'

Talk about an incredible hulk hunk!

Had never even heard of "Steambath" until 10 seconds ago (thanks, Auntie Dasch!). But when you see this delightful number, "The Fabulous Fags of the Steambath," you'll be as stunned as I was that it's from a TV adaptation of Bruce Jay Friedman's off-Broadway play.
Tandy (Bill Bixby), Merideth (Valerie Perrine) and assorted others unexpectedly wake up in a steambath with no easy exit. After spending some time there, it becomes clear that the steambath is a sort of Afterlife, where indifferent souls come to tell their stories to God who happens to be the attendant picking up the towels.
Watch the clip and know this: If I ever saw a young Bill Bixby in the steam room, I would be doing a lot more than prancing around him! (Available on DVD HERE!)

More sad news out of Breezy Point: The 60-foot finback whale that beached itself there on Wednesday was confirmed dead Thursday morning. Read HERE.

Away in a Manger

Maybe this explains Larry's Jesus complex

Metric System

I had heard that Adam Lambert did Madonna's "Ray of Light" on VH1's latest "Divas" tribute. But it wasn't until my brother e-mailed me this morning did I learn that Metric did Blondie's "Heart of Glass." The dress and "Parallel Lines" backdrop were spot-on, but lEmily Haines' lower-range voice and insistence on saying "much mistrust" -- instead of "much of -- pronounced MUCHO -- mistrust" left me a little flat. A for effort, though.

Blond on Blonde

The family that highlights together ...

That's Good!

OK, so I'm nine episodes into "Square Pegs" and I'd say it holds up quite well, missing music or not. Just watched Muffy Tepperman's hilarious New Wave bat mitzvah -- she got Devo to play! -- and in my noodle-kugel state of mind couldn't help wondering who I'd have had perform at mine, if I'd have been one of the chosen ones. Since I turned 13 in 1980, Blondie is the obvious choice. But since they were probably too busy, I'm thinking Blue Angel, the Buggles, X, OMD or the (just-about-to-make-it-big) Pretenders would be my best bets. When and who for you?!
