Song of the Day: 'Somewhere in My Heart' by Travis (Featuring Brandon Flowers)

A little joy on this darkest of days*: Brandon Flowers joined Travis, who is opening for the Killers, on stage in Glasgow for a cover Aztec Camera's "Somewhere in My Heart," the Scottish band's biggest chart hit. (You may recall that I pointed out that Lita Ford's "Kiss Me Deadly" sounds awfully similar!)

The decision “makes a mockery of the principle, foundational to our Constitution and system of Government, that no man is above the law.” -- Justice Sonia Sotomayor

I really thought if we could surgically remove this tumor in 2020 we would muddle on through, and just deal with the side effects of chemo and radiation. The scars would always be there, but life would go on. Now I realize how naive I was: This cancer has fully metastasized -- destroying any pretense of checks and balances.

Our slip into authoritarianism is no longer just a fear -- it's a reality. Somewhere in my heart I hope that there is only one person craven enough to seize this opportunity -- and that the public won't fall for another cult leader -- so things may somehow still return to something resembling "normal" once he's truly gone. But just as I was gullible in 2020, something tells me I'm probably being fool-hearted once again.

"Travis ARE opening for The Killers". I know how much you love correct grammar, babe. They are a group. Not a guy called Travis.
Lots of love from Shetland.

@Ivor: Ha! I did know they were a group -- but I say "Blondie IS opening for the Killers" so did the same here. :-)

The United States is over. The only hope is that we can divide into 3-4 separate countries peacefully. I live in the Northeast States of America (NESA). Has a nice ring to it!
