Two of Jussie Smollett's Friends Arrested in Connection With Alleged Hate Crime

Two brothers believed to be the men seen in grainy surveillance video released by Chicago police have been arrested in connection with the Jussie Smollett case -- and they are friends of his. Smollett follows the guys' joint Instagram account, and they have posted photos while using the private gym inside Smollett's luxury apartment building. A lawyer for the brothers confirmed they are friends with Smollett but said they are not the men who attacked him.

Even giving Smollett the benefit of the doubt that he was unable to recognize them if they were bundled up and masked, it still seems completely implausible that they would turn on him and then begin punching while hurling the n-and f-words while declaring that Chicago is "MAGA country." (They're Nigerian.)

I think the only question now is if Smollett will try to pull a Tonya Harding and claim he didn't know his own friends staged an attack on him. I have a feeling in these post-truth times many people will claim they still believe he's a victim, even if none of it makes any sense.

A friend and I just coined a phrase. It was bad enough when the right didn't operate in the real world. But that this scourge has infiltrated my beloved tribe is truly terrifying. We can blame W and Trump for truthiness and alternative facts all we want. But this is what Russia -- and unbridled wokeness -- has done to us. Let's please get it together before 2020 or else the damage to this country could become irreversible ...

So we only don't jump to conclusions when cute white RCC boys are at question? Got it.

Huh? No one is jumping to conclusions here. Journalists with sources are gathering information on the ground and reporting what they find, and I’m an intelligent person with critical-thinking skills. In the previous case it was a Twitter mob drawing conclusions based only on viral snippets that did not tell the whole story — and I faulted the journalists for NOT DOING THEIR JOBS, if you recall.

Looking at a photo of a kid in a MAGA hat and a Native American man and saying: "His look says I am BETTER THAN YOU ARE because I am white, so I will not move out of your way" (total speculation) and writing "Jussie Smollett follows his attackers on Instagram, and there are photos of the guys at Jussie's gym" (fact) are NOT the same thing.

This is exactly what I was talking about: Well-intentioned people can no longer distinguish between facts and conjecture. This is very disturbing and is part of the reason why we lost the 2016 election.

And not that it’s relevant but since you brought it up: The guys is this case are way hotter than some snot-nose boys from Kentucky — are you blind?

Yes, being identified as suspects by police is the same as people drawing conclusions from video posted to Twitter.

The other favorite is, "Why do you care so much?"

This story gets crazier by the minute- the two Nigerian dudes who look like gay porn stars attacked him or not? Now it makes sense why he did not want the police to look at his phone- he probably has more intimate shots of these two gentlemen.
