Song of the Day: 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' by Queen

I probably won't watch "Bohemian Rhapsody."Although I'm in awe of Freddie Mercury's life after the fact -- he was a Castro Clone in the world of pop music! -- I've learned everything I need to know from documentaries. And Queen's well-known songs were mostly stuff I despised as a kid -- "Another One Bites the Dust," "We Will Rock You," "Bohemian Rhapsody" did nothing for me, and a lot of the other stuff sounded too show tuney for me. Before the film was even released, everyone was having a conniption about how Freddie Mercury's sexuality was handled -- and I see nothing's changed now that it's out.

Sometimes it's OK to just like something for being entertaining ...

My level-headed friends think it's a wonderful film that handles Freddy's personal life just fine.

From HERE.

My most radical friends think his sexuality isn't addressed enough. And a millennial at a clickbait site thinks they've made Freddie's sexuality "so much of a plot point that they changed the timing of when he was diagnosed with AIDS in order to make the movie more dramatic." Whatever the case may be, though, I'm thrilled it's doing brisk business at the box office. It's always nice to see legendary LGBTQ people recognized for their achievements.

This and "Under Pressure" (with a lot of help from David Bowie) were exceptions to the rule ...
