The American fear and loathing of the word "cunt" is ridiculous.
In the UK and Australia, it's no big deal, and can often be used affectionately. It has about the same weight as "prick" or "dick"---a minor vulgarism, but, again, no big deal.
Now that I think about it, the differing reactions to the words "cunt" and "prick" are good examples of ingrained sexism in language. In the US, "Donald Trump is a cunt" is a much stronger statement than "Donald Trump is a prick". Logically, if you're opposed to sexism in all its forms, they should be equivalent.
(BTW, Donald Trump is a cunt.)
