Kim Cattrall to Sarah Jessica Parker: 'Stop Exploiting' My Brother's Death 'to Restore Your Nice Girl Persona'

By now you've probably heard that Kim Cattrall ripped into Sarah Jessica Parker for having the audacity to send her condolences (via social media) on the passing of her brother. While I'm generally on Cattrall's "side" in this longstanding feud (as much as one can be in something you're only hearing about in gossip columns) because she knows the true nature of her relationship with SJP better than we do — and she doesn't have to make any shitty sequel she doesn't want to — I do think Kim's latest salvo is a bit much. (It's too bad she doesn't have a powerful PR rep looking after her at this difficult time, someone like Samantha Jones.) Still, her brother did just die -- and it was probably a suicide -- so I cut her A LOT of extra slack. And while simply ignoring Parker probably would have been the more appropriate response, imagine if a former colleague of yours with whom you were not at all close/friendly put his/her “sincere” wishes to you on display in a dark moment in your life. (When I picture myself in that situation I can see how Cattrall reacted this way, however ill-advised.) None the less, this whole situation takes me back to my oft-said refrain: Don't people have phones or email anymore?

My friend kind of nailed this whole sad turn of events when he said: It’s like Kim’s trying to make sure SJP isn’t seen as a nice girl while trying to defend that she’s not a diva, when all these tweets do is make @SJP look like a nice girl and @KimCattrall look like a DIVA!

My heart goes out to the whole Cattrall clan. xo

you're right, kenneth, many social graces have simply been abandoned, thrown into the trash.

as bad as it looks for kim (yes, admittedly, her replies to sjp have backfired and look bad), i still have to say, if a co-worker of that many years chose to post condolences via social media without first calling or sending a card, i'd probably have been a little pissed off, too.

Gee, Dwight, angry much? So much bile spewed about people and situations you know very little about.
I guess it didn’t get better for you.

SJP is not so diff than Carrie. Did she really think someone who clearly doesn't like her or want anything to with her would appreciate her sympathy or condolence? It was short-sighted & insensitive & in her own benefit to be seen as doing the right thing publicly by reaching out to Kim. Kim's reaction is over the top, but she's in a bad place now. Remember when Carrie reached out to Nashasha after she caught her with Big & then she broke her tooth chasing after her? Yup, SJP is as clueless & self-involved as Carrie.

SJP should have reached out to Kim in private- death is not a prime time event

Gee Jimmy Dee , I’m not mad I’m one hundred per cent team SJP. You don’t know me, and if you can’t put your real name on a comment I’m sure I don’t want to know you. Bile , I just believe , that’s what comes out of the mouths of sycophants like you!
