Some aren't buying SCOTUS nominee Neil Gorsuch's blistering attack on our "president." But I find it hard to believe that Trump's fragile ego would even allow for something so Machiavellian -- see above -- plus he's too dumb for it. Am I wrong?
Even though everyone involved in the conversation agrees that Gorsuch said what he said, Trump is still insisting it's not true. That's normal, right?

You're right; most of what they do is NOT some scheme, they're just reacting viscerally and, often, winningly with their supporters. I think Gorsuch couldn't care less about Trump; he just wants on SCOTUS for life to do away with abortion, the social safety net, anything that helps minorities, anything that helps women, anything that helps gays and/or voting rights, Trump or not.
It certainly sounds like a "spoonful of sugar".
