The Mysteries of Gay Sex

Story HERE.

This spit-take worthy lede -- some people pay MEN for sex? you're kidding! -- reminded me of my former colleague at The New York Times named Lynn, who got Scotty Bowers' "Full Service: My Adventures in Hollywood and the Secret Sex Lives of the Stars" before I did, so read it and gave me the LynnsNotes version of the book. Her takeaway

That 75 percent of was probably accurate, but a couple things jumped out at her as not ringing true. For one, she didn't believe that Bowers procured literally hundreds of women for Katharine Hepburn, whose description sounded like a stereotypical gay man to Lynn. She also had some disbelief about Prince Edward (gay or bi) and Wallis Simpson. But the thing that she just KNEW was not true -- and nearly discredited Bowers entirely -- was that he claimed men used to pay good money to BLOW other men. (!) We set her, um, straight

While I too, devoured this book when it was first published, I must admit I was sceptic of some of the things, one of them being the supposed relations with the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. It made me thoughtful and I felt he probably made some cash to leave to his daughter and that it was awfully convenient that everyone he wrote about was conveniently dead and therefore, short of a seance, unreachable for comment.

Scotty bowers daughter died, years a go from a botched apportion,If you read the book... Why would he lie at his age... Though some may say he could of exaggerated things ... Who knows ... My question to him was why wasn't Joan Crawford in the book,, I have heard she was a total nympho... During her years of films ..but not a peep ... Maybe in book 2 ???

The book is entertaining and some of it might be true- now I know Hollywood is small town - but he seems to have met EVERY famous gay person at the time.
