Five-Alarm Fire Destroys Empty Building in Chelsea

Thanks to everyone who has reached out to see if I'm OK following this massive fire in Chelsea. Indeed we did smell it -- it was parallel to my building but one street south -- but I'm relieved to see no injuries were reported. Apparently it was unoccupied, in the process of being converted from warehouse to residential. The blaze started at 2:55 a.m. and raged for more than four hours, finally being extinguished just after 7.
