Killer 'Wines' About Unflattering Doc

Boy Culture perfectly sizes up convicted killer Michael Alig's behavior at the premiere of “Glory Daze: The Life and Times of Michael Alig” HERE.

This doesn't sound like a man who has learned from his mistakes to me.
The premiere of “Glory Daze: The Life and Times of Michael Alig” — a documentary on the infamous former club kid who killed pal Angel Melendez in 1996 — was fraught with its own drama Saturday. “It’s kind of a celebration. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that,” self-described “sober” Alig — who kicked drugs in 2009 — told us of drinking wine before entering the Players Theatre. He made it clear he wasn’t there to support director Ramon Fernandez. “I made a commitment to Couri, and I am going to keep that,” Alig said of p.r. man R. Couri Hay, who repped the film. Fernandez abruptly canceled a Q&A he and Alig were to do with Michael Musto after the screening. “We started late and . . . one of the reasons is Michael [Alig] was being difficult . . . he wasn’t very amenable,” Fernandez told us. Alig countered: “I would love to do the panel. I think he’s afraid I’m going to confront him about all the things he put in the documentary that were not true, or that he lied about and said weren’t going to be in and are in.”

First, why is the fact that someone, no matter who it is, had a glass of wine a news story worthy of being covered on multiple blogs?? Second, as the saying goes, every man has his poison. If alcohol wasn't his poison then drinking (a glass of wine) is not a crime (nor anyone else's business), nor a problem. Especially not at a celebratory function. Had he gotten drunk MAYBE that'd be a different story, but a glass of wine is a glass of wine. This is more gossip than news.

True. But someone who is just out of prison for MURDERING someone while under the influence is (rightfully) going to be under greater scrutiny. And he's the one calling himself sober, not the "gossipers."
