'Kenneth in the Two-Twelve'

My mom may not appreciate my two-one-two status, but it's nice to see The New York Times does:
“It’s New York City’s phone number,” Ms. Parker, 40, said. “It’s a status symbol most definitely.”
Mr. Day said some people wanted 212 numbers for their cellphones to serve as conversation pieces. “People say, ‘A 212 number on your cellphone, how did you get that?’ ” he said.
This article is especially appreciated because yesterday my accountant noticed that my bank account also begins with 212!

I recently read a story about the two most prestigious area codes: 212 and 415. I don't understand it but... I love my 415 area code!!! I hear you can easily get a 212 number. The things we treasure...

When I was at the AT&T store last week, the guy at the counter asked me about my 212 mobile number. He said that people will offer him thousands of $ for a number with a 212 area code. Crazy
