I feel like I've been pretty lucky when it comes to seeing most of my favorite musical artists live. Blondie? Check. Pretenders? Check. Paul Weller? Check. Psychedelic Furs? Check. Bananarama? Check! But my one regret is that I never went to see Prince back in the day. While I think there will be another chance again, I'll always kick myself for not seeing him in his heyday -- when his being weird was cool instead of completely creepy -- a lapse in judgment I blame on being too wrapped up in the New Wave scene at the time and not realizing there was other timeless music happening at the same time. "I Wanna Be Your Lover" is the perfect song and every time I hear it I can't help but wonder what it would be like to be so talented that you could come up with something this spectacular and not spend the rest of your life resting on your laurels.

If I ever knew that this song was by Prince I have completely forgotten it and would never have recognized it as on of his. I do remember the first time I ever saw or heard him. I was home sick watching MTV and was talking on the phone and commented to my friend that some weird little man was bouncing all around the stage - but the song was pretty good anyway - Little Red Corvette.
